Why was the Alliance formed?
The Alliance was formed to give general contractors and owners a single point of responsibility for mechanical and electrical design/build.

What advantages does the Alliance offer over multiple sub-contracting?
The Alliance allows the general contractor and owner to shift the risk associated with mechanical and electrical design and construction to where it's best managed - to the M/E contractors and designers. This relationship driven team can provide fully coordinated design and construction of the most complex projects. The model established by the Alliance minimizes construction cost and schedule through collaboration, coordination, and sharing of resources - in the office and in the field.

What market does the Alliance serve?
The primary focus of the Alliance is Federal Government and Military building projects in the Mid-Atlantic region. The team members all possess facilities and personnel clearances, giving the Alliance the ablity to perform on classified projects. In addition, many of the team facilities have high systems reliability and optimized system and equipment life-cycle cost.

What services does the Alliance offer outside of the typical Mechanical and Electrical?
The Alliance has design and construction expertise in telecommunications and data systems, sustainable design, commissioning, reliability centered maintenance, and operations and maintenance services. Additional design services include structural, civil, and fire protection engineering. Beyond the in-house offerings, the Alliance has the ability to sub-contract to provide the general contractor or owner with nearly limitless design and construction capabilities - all under one contract.

Is this a Joint Venture?
No. The Engineered System Alliance is a corporate entity registered with the Virginia Corporation Commission.

Am I protected through bonding and insurance of the Alliance members?
Yes. While the general contractor or owner would have a contract with the Alliance, the bonding and insurance would all pass through the Alliance to the responsible parties through indemnification provision.

How do I maintain control over the design?
On a building project, an architect working under the general contractor would still serve the role as the design team leader - managing the overall design process, assuring overall coordination, and having responsibility for overall A/E design quality - just as in any design/bid/build or multi-contract design/build arrangement.  Decorative Image Border
